It is generally thought to be present at a constant level in cells and for this reason, measurement of beta-Actin is generally used as an internal control. Antibodies specific for beta-Actin have been used in Western blot as a loading control for whole cell and cytoplasmic samples. beta-Actin has a molecular weight of about 43 kDa.
