Species: RatAssay Type: In VitroCell Line/Tissue: HippocampusWe have used (+)-Bicuculline (BIC) as a control tool to make sure that only GABA-A receptors are active under perfusion with given set of neuroreceptor antagonists.Being applied at membrane patches excised from cerebellar granule cell, 10 microM GABA triggered clear single-channel openings of GABA-A receptors. However, 100 microM BIC added together with GABA completely suppressed all single-channel activity, thus proving absence of other receptor types.
