Species: MouseAssay Type: In VivoCell Line/Tissue: BrainI have used the antibiotic minocycline to impair activation of microglia in the brain of mice. This drug has anti-inflammatory properties that block microglial reactivity, which can be easily confirmed by expression of the CD68 protein. The drug was diluted in PBS and injected i.p. (75 mg/kg) in mice, twice a day, for 7 days. The image shows that microglial cells (stained for Iba1) do not express CD68 (in red) after treatment with minocycline.
