DNA polymerase theta: Proteins and Enzymes

DNA polymerase theta, also referred to as POLQ, is highly expressed in the testes. POLQ has a 2,590 amino acid long isoform that is approximately 290kDa and a shorter 1,786 amino acid long isoform that is approximately 198kDa. POLQ is highly expressed in the testes, plays a role in DNA polymerase activity, and may be implicated in interstrand crosslink repair (ICR). Research on DNA polymerase theta has shown a connection to several diseases and disorders including stomach cancer, malaria, breast cancer, tuberculosis, and meningioma. POLQ has also been shown to have interactions with AP2S1.
