Product Specifications

Immunogen

Pools of purified homogenous IgE isolated from rat serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure

Reactivity Notes

This immunoconjugate is not species-specific since inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antisera to immunoglobulins. Cross-reactivity of this conjugate has not been tested in detail

Specificity

The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the Fc subunits of the IgE molecule as tested by gel immunodiffusion techniques against rat sera and a panel of purified homogenous immunoglobulins. A reaction of full identity is obtained with serum containing monoclonal IgE and with the immunogen. No reaction is obtained with normal rat serum. The product does not react with any other protein of rat plasma or serum.

Clonality

Polyclonal

Host

Goat

Description

The lyophilized conjugate is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at 4C; prolonged storage at or below -20C. Prior to use, an aliquot is thawed slowly in the dark at ambient temperature, spun down again and used to prepare working dilutions by adding sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. Working dilutions should be stored at 4C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the immunoconjugate.

Background: IgE Fc

Predicted to enable antigen binding activity and immunoglobulin receptor binding activity. Predicted to be involved in several processes, including activation of immune response; defense response to other organism; and phagocytosis. Predicted to be located in extracellular region. Predicted to be part of immunoglobulin complex, circulating. Predicted to be active in external side of plasma membrane. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2022]

Long Name

Immunoglobulin E Fc

Alternate Names

constant region of heavy chain of IgE, immunoglobulin epsilon, immunoglobulin heavy constant epsilon
