Background: Syntaxin-BP3

Syntaxin‑BP3 (Syntaxin-binding protein 3; also PSP, Munc18-C and -3; and Unc-18C) is a 66‑70 kDa member of the SNARE-interacting Sec1/Munc18 family of proteins. It is expressed in cells that exhibit granule exocytosis, such as neutrophils, mast cells, platelets and endothelial cells. Functionally, it likely participates in the consolidation and secretion of secondary and tertiary granules. Human Syntaxin‑BP3 is 592 amino acids (aa) in length. It contains one SEC1 domain (aa 16‑592). Phosphorylation at Ser129 may stimulate granule release. There are two potential splice variants. One shows a 12 aa substitution for aa 31‑269, while a second shows a one aa Gln insertion after Lys270. Over aa 84‑231, human Syntaxin‑BP3 shares 90% aa identity with mouse Syntaxin‑BP3.
