Background: Semaphorin 6D

Semaphorin 6D is a type I transmembrane protein belonging to the semaphorin family. Members of the sema family were originally identified as axon guidance molecules. Semaphorin 6D is expressed during development and in adult kidney, brain, placenta, heart and skeletal muscles. Five splice variants of Semaphorin 6D exist.
