Metallothionein-2 (MT2A) is a protein that is transcriptionally regulated by heavy metals and glucocorticoids. This Metallothionein (MT) binds zinc. MTs sequester and/or dispense zinc during stress and inflammation to protect cells against reactive oxygen species.
