Background: ISLR-2
ISLR-2 (Ig-superfamily containing LRR protein 2; also KIAA1465) is a 100‑110 kDa member of the LRR family of proteins. It is expressed on developing motor, sensory and interneurons. Mature human ISLR-2 is 727 amino acids (aa) in length. It is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that contains a 571 aa extracellular domain (ECD) and a 135 aa cytoplasmic region. The ECD shows multiple LRRs (aa 50‑227) and one Ig-like domain (aa 233‑371). One alternate splice form may exist that shows a deletion of aa 160‑570. Over aa 20‑590, human ISLR-2 is 89% aa identical to both canine and mouse ISLR-2.
