The immunosuppressant cyclosporin A (CsA) forms a trimolecular complex with cyclophilin and calcineurins to inhibit calcineurin phosphatase activity. Cyclophilins are conserved, ubiquitous and abundant cytosolic peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerases that accelerate the isomerization of XaaPro peptide bonds and the refolding of proteins.
