Species: RatAssay Type: In VivoBilateral microinjections of lidocaine (100 micrograms/0.5 microliter/side) into prelimbic, but not infralimbic, medial prefrontal cortex blocked cue-induced reinstatement of MDMA (ecstasy)-seeking behavior compared with saline microinjections into the same region. Lidocaine microinjections into either region did not, however, have an effect on food-maintained responding, ruling out a nonspecific disruption of motor performance.
