Purified polyclonal mouse IgG and pools of homogenous IgG, IgA, IgM and IgD. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail.

The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the heavy chains of immunoglobulin isotypes IgG, IgA, IgM and IgD. The antiserum also contains antibodies to common determinants and to the surface determinants of the common Fab as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion. It does not react with any non-Ig proteins in mouse serum.

The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at 4C; prolonged storage at or below -20C. Working dilutions are prepared by adding sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. Working dilutions should be stored at 4C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the product.

Whole Antiserum

Reconstitute by adding 1 ml sterile distilled water. Working dilutions are prepared by adding sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2).

The product is shipped with polar packs. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.

Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
