Product Summary for Human MIF Quantikine ELISA Kit

The Quantikine Human MIF Immunoassay is a 4.5 hour solid phase ELISA designed to measure human MIF in cell culture supernates, serum, plasma, urine, and human milk. It contains E. coli-expressed recombinant human MIF and has been shown to accurately quantitate the recombinant factor. Results obtained using natural human MIF showed linear curves that were parallel to the standard curves obtained using the Quantikine kit standards. These results indicate that this kit can be used to determine relative mass values for naturally occurring human MIF.

Recovery for Human MIF Quantikine ELISA Kit

The recovery of MIF spiked to levels throughout the range of the assay was evaluated.

Sample Type Average % Recovery Range %
Cell Culture Media (n=4) 95 86-104
Platelet-poor EDTA Plasma (n=5) 95 80-108

Serum (n=4) 99 94-104

Linearity

To assess the linearity of the assay, samples containing and/or spiked with high concentrations of MIF were serially diluted with Calibrator Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.\line

Background: MIF

MIF (macrophage migration inhibitory factor) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is released during microbial infection, ARDS, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. It signals through CXCR4, CXCR7, or complexes of CD74-CD44. MIF exhibits potent paracrine and autocrine stimulatory effects on cell growth and survival and enhances the production of inflammatory cytokines. It also inhibits the effectiveness of immunosuppressive glucocorticoids.

FAQs for Human MIF Quantikine ELISA Kit

Showing  1 - 1 of 1 FAQ Showing All
  • Q: Sera appears to have ng levels of MIF present. Since homology between bovine and human is 92%, will media supplemented with FCS present any problems.

A: Bovine MIF has not been evaluated, so running a media control would be recommended.
