Product Specifications

Immunogen

p57 Kip2 antibody was raised against a 17 amino acid synthetic peptide near the amino terminus of human p57 Kip2. The immunogen is located within amino acids 40 - 90 of p57 Kip2.

Specificity

At least three isoforms of p57 Kip2 are known to exist; this antibody will detect all three isoforms. Despite its predicted molecular weight, p57 Kip2 often migrates at 57kDa in SDS-PAGE. CDKN1C antibody is predicted to not cross react with other CIP/KIP proteins.

Background: p57 Kip2

p57kip2 is a tight-binding, strong inhibitor of several G1 cyclin/Cdk complexes and a negative regulator of cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene are implicated in sporadic cancers and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndorome, suggesting that this gene is a tumor suppressor candidate.

Alternate Names

Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, BWS, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1C, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1C (p57, Kip2), Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p57, KIP2BWCR, p57, p57Kip2, WBS

Gene Symbol

CDKN1C
