Background: TCL1B
TCL1B (T cell leukemia protein 1B; also SYN1 and [p15]TML1) is a monomeric,15 kDa (predicted) member of the TCL1 family of proteins. It is expressed in the embryo and syncytiotrophoblast, and interacts with Akt1 and Akt2 kinase, promoting their activation and the subsequent deactivation of proapoptotic molecules. Human TCL1B is 128 amino acids (aa) in length. There is no definitive structural motif that characterizes TCL1B, save for a unique beta-barrel configuration. Full length human TCL1B shares less than 35% aa identity with five orthologous mouse TCL1B isoforms.
