Background: NgR2/NgRH1

NgR2, also known as reticulon 4 receptor-like 2 and NgRH1, is a 60 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored protein that is expressed primarily in the brain. It contains eight leucine-rich repeats that are flanked by cysteine-rich sequences at both the N- as well as the C-terminus. Membrane-anchored NgR2 can be solubilized through the action of phospholipase or an unidentified MT-MMP to generate a 46 kDa soluble receptor. Mature human NgR2 shares 48% aa sequence identity with human NgR3. It also shares 96% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat mature NgR2.
