Background: MIS/AMH
MIS, also known as anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH), belongs to the TGF-beta superfamily. It is synthesized as a 140 kDa homodimeric glycoprotein that undergoes proteolytic cleavage into the bioactive homodimeric 26 kDa carboxy-terminus and the 110 kDa dimeric amino-terminus. After cleavage, the amino-terminal propeptide remains non-covalently associated with the bioactive carboxy-terminal active protein. The amino acid sequence of human and mouse MIS propeptides are 67% identical.
