Integrin beta5 in MCF‑7 Human Cell Line.

Integrin beta5 was detected in immersion fixed MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line using Sheep Anti-Human Integrin beta5 Biotinylated Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # BAF3824) at 10 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights™ 557-conjugated Streptavidin (red; Catalog # NL999) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to transmembrane proteins. Background: Integrin beta 5

Integrin beta5 is a 100‑110 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that forms a non-disulfide-linked heterodimer with Integrin alpha_V. Integrin alpha_V beta5 is a receptor for vitronectin that is expressed on a wide variety of cell types including keratinocytes, fibroblasts, adhesive monocytes, and select endothelium. The 696 amino acid residue Integrin beta5 extracellular region contains a vWF-A domain and a cysteine-rich tandem repeat region. Human Integrin beta5 shares 91% and 89% amino acid sequence homology with mouse and canine Integrin beta5, respectively.
