Background: AMIGO
AMIGO is a 65 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to both the Ig- and LLR (leucine-rich repeat)- superfamilies. It is expressed on developing neuronal fiber tracts and participates in their formation. AMIGO forms both homophilic and heterophilic complexes with AMIGO2 and 3, suggesting an adhesive function for the molecule. Human AMIGO extracellular domain is 87% amino acid identical to mouse AMIGO, and 40% identical to human AMIGO2 and 3.
