WB: Approx. 55-60 kDa band observed in human liver and Ileum lysates (calculated MW of 62.6 kDa band according to NP_001020366.1). In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing CES1 a band of approx. 65 kDa is observed. This band is not observed in the non-transfected HEK293. IHC-P: Human Lung shows staining of lymphocytes in the vasculature.

Background: Carboxylesterase 1/CES1
Carboxylesterase 1 hydrolyzes ester- and amide bonds of substrates ranging from small molecule esters such as phenylester to long-chain fatty acid esters and thioesters. It plays a major role in the pharmacokinetic behavior of many therapeutic agents containing an ester. Through de-esterification, it participates in the detoxification of drugs such as cocaine and heroin in serum and liver.
