Hep G2 is a human liver carcinoma cell line. This cell line was derived from the liver of a 15-year old white male and is epithelial in nature. They are frequently used to study polarized human hepatocytes and are a popular cell line used to study intracellular trafficking in the liver, liver metabolism and drug targeting, as well as a number of liver diseases.
