AEC Chromogen/Substrate: Supplemental Kits and Reagents

AEC is a chromogen of choice when performing immunoperoxidase staining. It represents a popular alternative to DAB due to its lower toxicity. AEC produces a red precipitate at positive sites and provides excellent contrast with blue hematoxylin counter stains. Note that specimens stained in AEC can not be dehydrated in ethanol and should be mounted in aqueous based mounting medium.
