Rad1 is a member of the Rad9/Rad1/Hus1 checkpoint sliding clamp complex that participates in DNA damage and repair responses. The structure and function of the Rad1 genes in the G2/M checkpoint pathway are evolutionarily conserved between yeast and higher eukaryotes.
