The antibody MEM-31 recognizes a conformationally-dependent epitope of CD8, a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. CD8 is a disulfide-linked dimer and exists as a CD8 alpha/alpha homodimer or CD8 alpha/beta heterodimer (each monomer approx. 32-34 kDa). The antibody does not react with formaldehyde-fixed cells; negative in Western Blotting application.

Background: TC21/R-Ras2

RRAS2 (Related RAS viral oncogene homolog 2) is a member of the Ras superfamily. It is a GTP-binding protein with GTPase activity. It might transduce growth inhibitory signals across the cell membrane, exerting its effect through an effector shared with the Ras proteins. RRAS2 has high oncogenic potential and is mutated in some human tumors and overexpressed in breast cancer cell lines.
