Background: PA2G4

The human PA2G4 gene encodes an intracellular protein that was also identified as Ebp 1 (ErbB3 binding protein 1). It has effects on cell cycle progression and inhibits proliferation when ectopically expressed in non-immortalized fibroblasts as well as breast cancer and prostate cancer cell lines. PA2G4 shares 56% amino acid similarity with a 42 kDa protein in the fission yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, suggesting a high degree of evolutionary conservation.
