Specificity

Detects P‑Cadherin in ELISAs and Western blots. In sandwich immunoassays, less than 2% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) P-Cadherin is observed and less than 0.3% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse E-Cadherin, rhN-Cadherin, and rhCadherin-8 is observed.

Product Feature: CoraFluor Probes for TR-FRET

CoraFluor™ 1, amine reactive (Catalog:7920) and CoraFluor™ 2, amine reactive (Catalog # 7950) are terbium-based probes that have been developed for use as TR-FRET donors. They emit wavelengths compatible with commonly used fluorescent acceptor dyes such as BODIPY® (or BDY) and Janelia Fluor® dyes, FITC (Catalog # 5440), TMR and Cyanine 5 (Catalog # 5436). CoraFluor™ fluorescence is brighter and more stable in biological media than existing TR-FRET donors, leading to enhanced sensitivity and improved data generation. CoraFluor™ 1 exhibits excitation upon exposure to a 337 nm UV laser.

Background: P-Cadherin

The cadherins are a family of Ca++-dependent adhesion molecules that function to mediate cell-cell binding critical to the maintenance of tissue structure and morphogenesis. Cadherins each contain a large extracellular domain at the amino terminus, which is characterized by a series of five homologous repeats, the most distal of which is thought to be responsible for binding specificity. The relatively short carboxy terminal, intracellular domain interacts with a variety of cytoplasmic proteins, including beta-catenin, to regulate cadherin function. R-cadherin (for retinal-cadherin, also designated cadherin-4), which was first identified in the retina of chicken, has been shown to be involved in the development of striated muscle and potentially epithelia in addition to its involvement in retinal development.
