The Pumilio proteins PUM1 and PUM2 are RNA binding proteins that are repressors of mRNA translation. PUM2 is present in embryonic stem cells and adult germ cells. Both positive and negative influences of PUM2 on proliferation have been reported. PUM2 is a 114 kDa (predicted) protein with 6 potential Ser/Thr phosphorylation sites, an acetylation site, and a pumilio domain.
