Description

This antibody is highly specific and optimized for use in Immunohistochemistry.

It has been validated on TMAs covering 76 normal tissues and numerous cancer tissues.

Positive Control
Postive control:In the liver, at least a moderate membranous staining should be seen in hepatocytes while bile duct epithelia stain strongly. In the colon, only epithelium should display a strong membranous staining reaction.

Negative Control
Negitve control:Tonsil or appendix: No staining reaction must be seen in stromal cells such as lymphocytes, plasma cells, smooth muscle cells or endothelial cells.

Background: E-Cadherin

E-cadherin, or epithelial cadherin, is an cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein important to cellular processes such as morphology, polarity, development, tissue integrity and migration. E cadherin's extracellular domain interacts with other E-cadherin protein on adjacent epithelial cells to establish adhesion between them. E cadherin has also been identified as a tumor and metastasis suppressor, and its mutations have been linked to various forms of cancer.
