Why Extracellular Vesicles Are Central to Cancer Research

Extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes, are small particles released by cells into blood and other body fluids. From Standard Western Blot to Simple Western

Realizing that potential, however, means overcoming a practical obstacle: EV protein analysis has traditionally relied on standard Western blotting, and Western blot is poorly suited to the small, precious samples EV research depends on. Manual workflows are time-consuming and prone to variability between runs. Additionally, they consume more of the sample than researchers can spare when every microliter of blood is limited.

Dr. Gobbo knows this constraint firsthand. "When you work with blood, you don't have a large amount available," she explains. "You have to adapt everything, and adapt your research, to reach your clinical results faster." Reliably detecting them demands a level of sensitivity that manual blotting struggles to deliver consistently.
