WAY 161503 hydrochloride is a potent and selective 5-HT_2C receptor agonist (K_i = 4 nM; EC₅₀ = 12 nM). Shows approximately 2-fold selectivity for 5HT_2C over 5HT_2A in HEK293 cell lines (EC₅₀= 7.3 nM and 12 nM, respectively). Antidepressant following systemic administration in vivo.
