Webinar: Time to Turn the Page on SDS-PAGE
Webinar Summary
For years, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) has been the go-to method for protein purity analysis. Despite shortcomings in sensitivity, reproducibility, and its semi-quantitative nature, SDS-PAGE is still widely used. Capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS) with its superior separation power, accurate quantitation, and ability for automation is quickly replacing SDS-PAGE in laboratories around the world. In addition to the obvious advantages in time and labor, CE-SDS also stands out as a ‘greener’ method over SDS-PAGE. As laboratories worldwide increasingly focus on waste management with various methods, CE-SDS presents clear advantages over SDS-PAGE for protein purity analysis. In this webinar, Prof. Hermann Wätzig from the Institute of Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Braunschweig, Germany and Dr. Chris Heger, Director, Applications Science, Bio-Techne will discuss how transitioning from SDS-PAGE to CE-SDS benefits research, both from an academic and industrial perspective. The speakers will also discuss the current state-of-the art instrumentation and method development landscape.
