TLR4: Small Molecules and Peptides
TLR4, also known as CD284, is a 100 kDa transmembrane pattern recognition receptor. It associates with MD-2 on monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and B cells where it functions as a receptor for bacterial endotoxin/lipopolysaccharide (LPS). LPS is extracted from circulating CD14-LPS complexes and triggers a TLR4 mediated inflammatory response.
