Dopamine D5R/DRD5: Small Molecules and Peptides

DRD5 is the D5 subtype of the dopamine receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor which stimulates adenylyl cyclase. DRD5 is expressed in neurons in the limbic regions of the brain and has a 10-fold higher affinity for dopamine than the D1 subtype. DRD5 shows a trafficking profile distinct from that of any of the other dopamine receptors. Endocytosis of DRD5 can be achieved both homologously, through direct receptor activation by an agonist, and also heterologously, due to independent activation of protein kinase C (PKC).
