Background: Motilin R/GPR38
Motilin is a 22 amino acid peptide hormone expressed throughout the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. GPR38 is a motilin receptor and a member of the G protein-coupled receptor 1 family. Motilin R/GPR38 is an important therapeutic target for the treatment of hypomotility disorders but desensitization may limit its clinical utility.
