Integrin alpha 1 beta 1: Small Molecules and Peptides
Integrin alpha 1 beta 1 is a heterodimer of the Integrin subunits alpha 1 and beta 1 and is one of four collagen‑binding integrins. It is expressed on activated T cells, B cells, monocytes, vascular smooth muscle cells, osteoblasts, and adipocytes. a1b1 preferentially binds Collagens I, IV, VI, XIII and XVI, but also binds Laminin. It suppresses EGF R signaling, increases expression of Caveolin-1, reduces the production of reactive oxygen species, regulates collagen expression, regulates MMP collagenase and gelatinase activity, and mediates the renal basement membrane disorder Alport syndrome.
