Trazodone hydrochloride is a 5-HT_2A and α₁ adrenoceptor antagonist. Enhances neuronal differentiation of mouse and human neural progenitor cells. Also inhibits PERK/eIF2α-P-mediated reduction in protein synthesis and restores memory deficits in a mouse dementia model. Antidepressant and neuroprotectant.
