Precision
Intra-Assay Precision (Precision within an assay) Each control was tested multiple times in one EGF assay.
Inter-Assay Precision (Precision between assays) Replicates of each EGF control were tested in multiple assays performed by at least three technicians using two lots of reagents for human EGF.

Recovery for Simple Plex Human EGF Cartridge
Recovery for the human EGF assays was evaluated at three different spiked concentrations of EGF protein.
| Sample Type | Average % Recovery | Range % |
|---|---|---|
| Cell Culture Media (n=2) | 114 | 112-117 |
| Platelet-poor EDTA Plasma (n=3) | 92 | 74-103 |
| Platelet-poor Heparin Plasma (n=3) | 89 | 70-103 |
| Serum (n=5) | 93 | 83-107 |
Linearity
Samples containing and/or spiked with high concentrations of human EGF were serially diluted with Sample Diluent to produce samples within the dynamic range of the assay

Background: EGF
EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) is expressed as a transmembrane protein that is proteolytically cleaved to generate soluble forms. It signals through EGF R/ErbB1 which heterodimerizes with ErbB2, ErbB3, or ErbB4 and can also associate with PDGF R beta and HGF R/c-MET. During development, EGF regulates thymocyte differentiation, neuroglia production, and adipocyte maturation. In the adult, EGF plays a role in mammary gland lactogenesis, fibroblast mitosis, dissociation of the extracellular matrix, and cell migration.
