Description

Red Janelia Fluor® fluorescent dye for live gram positive and negative bacteria imaging

Product Description

Key information: Janelia Fluor® 646 ADA is a red fluorescent dye suitable for bacterial imaging applications, consisting of a bright Janelia Fluor® fluorophore bearing the unnatural amino acid D-Alanine. Incorporation of fluorescent D-amino acids in gram negative and positive bacteria can selectively label peptidoglycans in bacterial membranes, resulting in bright fluorescence around the bacteria and minimal or no signal detected inside.

Used for: live gram positive and negative bacteria imaging.

Application: confocal microscopy and flow cytometry.

Properties and Photophysical Data: Excitation and emission maxima (λ) are 646 nm and 664 nm, respectively; quantum yield = 0.54; extinction coefficient = 152,000 M-1cm-1; lactone-zwitterion equilibrium constant (KL-Z) = 0.0012.
