S100B antibody in Human Alzheimer's Brain by Immunohistochemistry (IHC-P).

S100B in Human Alzheimer'S Brain.

S100B was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human Alzheimer's brain using Goat Anti-Human S100B Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF1820) at 1.7 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C. Tissue was stained using the Anti-Goat HRP-DAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit (brown; Catalog # CTS008) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Detection of Human S100B antibody by Simple WesternTM.

Detection of Human S100B by Simple WesternTM.

Simple Western lane view shows lysates of human brain (cerebellum) tissue, loaded at 0.2 mg/mL. A specific band was detected for S100B at approximately 4 kDa (as indicated) using 10 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human S100B Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF1820) . This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using the 12-230 kDa separation system.

GLO1 localization in murine medial prefrontal cortex.Representative confocal images of layers II/III in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC LII/III) of 3-month-old male WT (A and C) and S2808D-RyR2 (B and D) mice. The magnified images correspond to the regions delineated by the yellow dashed boxes. (A and B) Neurons labeled with NeuN (magenta) colocalize with GLO1 (green), as identified by the white arrowheads. (C and D) Astrocytes labeled with S100 (magenta) colocalize with GLO1 (green). Processes of astrocytes are delineated by the yellow arrowheads, while the somas are indicated by the white arrowheads. S2808D, S2808D-RyR2. Scale bars: 10 μm. Image collected and cropped by CiteAb from the following open publication (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41100182), licensed under a CC-BY license. Not internally tested by R&D Systems.

Background: S100B

S100B belongs to the S100 subgroup of the EF-hand family of Ca2+ binding proteins. It is a homodimer that is expressed primarily in the brain by astrocytes, oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells. S100B has multiple intracellular functions, but can also be secreted from cells to exert extracellular functions. Some of the extracellular functions of S100B may be mediated by RAGE (receptor for advanced glycation end products). Blood levels of S100B can be used to monitor the extent of brain injury and malignant melanoma.
