Background: TSG-6

TSG-6 is a secreted hyaluronan-binding protein composed of a link domain and Cub domain. It is induced in many cell types by inflammatory mediators. Via its link domain, TSG-6 is a potent inhibitor of polymorphonuclear leukocyte migration. TSG-6 forms a stable complex with the serine protease inhibitor Inter-alpha -Inhibitor (I alphaI) and potentiates the anti-plasmin activity of I alphaI.
